Set on the banks of the iconic Yarra River, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is just a 25-40 minute drive from Melbourne airport (depending on time of day) and a short stroll to the city centre. There you can explore cafés, eclectic restaurants, lush parklands, incredible fashion and inspiring galleries and museums.

MCEC is situated along South Wharf Promenade, where you’ll find heritage cargo sheds that have been converted into some of Melbourne’s hottest restaurants and bars. This area of Melbourne delivers a multicultural dining experience and one of the most beautiful waterside views of the city.

WFCP 2018 sessions and exhibition will be taking place in the Convention Centre, accessed via Convention Centre Place or a short walk down the Exhibition Centre Concourse from the Clarendon Street entrance.

See further information below, regarding arriving from Melbourne Airport. If arriving by taxi or UBER directly to the Convention Centre, ask the driver to drop you off at the Convention Centre Place drop off zone, next to the Pan Pacific Melbourne and DFO South Wharf.

The most economical way to Melbourne from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport is the SkyBus. SkyBus has two services operating to Melbourne CBD from Tullamarine Airport. The cost for the Docklands Express or Melbourne Express SkyBus is $18 one way or $36 return. Receive a 5% discount on purchasing tickets online by entering the promotional code ‘MCEC’.

  1. The main service transports visitors direct from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross Station. If you will be going straight to your hotel, this may be your best option. Complimentary with your SkyBus Melbourne City Express ticket, SkyBus Link is your transfer service between Southern Cross Station and accommodation in Melbourne’s city centre. Operating two routes with 12 convenient stops, SkyBus Link is a mini bus transfer service from Southern Cross Station to 12 convenient stops around the city. Please note that while SkyBus transfers from the airport to Southern Cross Station operate 24/7, SkyBus Link only operates on weekdays 06:00 – 20:30 and on weekends 07:30 – 16:45. If you arrive outside those times, taxis are conveniently located nearby or several tram stops are less than a five minute walk away. MCEC is a 12-15 minute walk from the SkyBus depot at Southern Cross station or you can also catch tram 96 which stops opposite the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC. Bus route 238 operates to and from Southern Cross Station to Convention Centre Place between the hours of 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday ONLY – the coach pick-up/drop-off point from MCEC to the station is coach bay 1 Convention Centre Place (closest to DFO South Wharf).
  2. If you are going directly to the Convention Centre or your hotel or accommodation provider is located in Docklands or Southbank, you should take the second direct SkyBus service called Southbank Docklands express. Please note this is not a hotel door to door service and the closest stop may be a 5 -8 minute walk away from your hotel. Stop #6 is the Clarendon Street slip lane outside Melbourne Exhibition Centre – if you are going directly to the MCEC or if you are staying at South Wharf (see also another door to door option below for South Wharf hotels) disembark at stop #6 and walk along the Exhibition Centre Concourse to the Convention Centre and right through the Convention Centre to the Pan Pacific and the Novotel South Wharf (10 minute walk). This Southbank Docklands express service does NOT stop at Southern Cross Station.

If you are staying at Pan Pacific South Wharf or the new Novotel Melbourne South Wharf OR if you want to go directly to the Convention Centre from the airport, we would recommend the door to door bus service from StarBus. This is more expensive than SkyBus @ AUD $22 one way or $40 return, however it will drop you to the door of the Pan Pacific. StarBus leaves Melbourne airport every 15 minutes from 6.00am to 7.00pm and then every 30 minutes from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. For the return to the airport, it only leaves the Pan Pacific every hour (on the hour from 5.00am to 9.00pm). This is also a shared bus stop for the Novotel and the Convention Centre (however on the booking form you must select Pan Pacific). Please allow 1 hour for this return trip. If you are leaving the convention centre directly for the airport after the Congress, you can store your luggage with the convention centre concierge desk and take this bus transfer from the Pan Pacific bus stop (1 minute walk from the Convention Centre entrance).
